AGENDA

WRITE

READ

LISTEN

The agenda for WOMEN READING ALOUD is unique.  Small groups read simultaneously in different rooms to create an intimate salon atmosphere.  Writers read their work in ten-minute timeframes.  At the break, a buffet luncheon gives writers time to socialize, network, and browse the display table that showcases work by the attending writers.  Following lunch, an invited guest author shares her own insight to the writing process and answers questions.  Great consideration goes into the selection of the speakers.  Our goals are for participants to learn something new, to affirm their own writing lives, and to face the blank page with renewed spirit. Although WOMEN READING ALOUD is not a critiquing writer’s organization, we recognize that writers need feedback. Silent feedback sheets are distributed after each writer reads her work. At the end of the day, writers leave with their feedback sheets to read in private at their leisure.

Giving women the opportunity to find and hone their voices through writing AND to be heard in gracious settings – that is, indeed, lighting a candle to Truth and Beauty.

WOMEN READING ALOUD welcomes writers with these words…

This is what I learned: that everybody is talented, original and has something important to say...So remember these two things: you are talented and you are original. Be sure of that. I say that because self-trust is one of the very most important things in writing...
